CocoNene opens new Maui store at The Shops at Wailea : Maui Now

CocoNene, a local brand known for its made-in-Hawaiʻi products, opened its third Maui store on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at The Shops at Wailea.

“We are so honored and excited to join the other high-quality retailers at Shops of Wailea as part of our Maui recovery and expansion plans,” said CocoNene owner Kent Untermann. “We anticipate this to be our most productive store on Maui, showcasing all of our made-in-Hawaiʻi products.”

The store held a blessing on Tuesday, over a year after devastating wildfires destroyed the brand’s flagship store on Lahaina’s Front Street. Despite the losses, Untermann says he is committed to rebuilding on Maui and across the Islands, retaining all staff members, while keeping the spirit of resiliency, and aloha, alive.

The new 1,400 square-foot store will feature CocoNene’s iconic products, including home décor, wood wall art by local artists, and its signature Longboard Letters. This marks a total of eight stores for CocoNene, including their flagship store on Oʻahu, on the first level of Waikīkī’s International Market Place, unveiled in January.

CocoNene is part of the family of brands that includes kamaʻāina company Pictures Plus, founded in 1986 by SBA inaugural Hall of Fame member Kent Untermann and his wife, Lori. Dedicated to crafting meaningful products that feature designs by local artists, CocoNene says 100% of its products are made in Hawaiʻi. Their assortment of wood wall art, home décor and gifts are intended to capture “the essence and beauty of Hawaiʻi and its gift-giving culture.”
